The Mandy and Ca Ca Show

The Mandy and Ca Ca Show was our first ‘Duo’ show.

M&CC was a bit of a mixed bag. It combined elements of Showgurl and some show ideas we hadn’t yet found a home for. I wanted to work on some comedy ideas, and Jessica had some characters she was developing. We opened in Perth at Fringe World and sold out maybe half of the season, with a great reception. The show was reviewed (below) by Out in Perth . We had planned to travel the “circuit” (Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Edinburgh – but a dismal Melbourne season ended that idea. The people who saw it loved it, but there just wasn’t enough of them. Whether it was the late timeslot, the remote Trades Hall venue or we were simply overexposed. Either way we decided to finish the festival circuit and concentrate on our drag shows around Melbourne

“The show is entertaining to say the least”

Drags Aloud holds the record for the longest running production in the history of Melbourne’s drag industry, and they’re here at Fringe World to entertain us for yet another year. In the intimate setting of DeLuxe in the Pleasure Garden, Amanda Munroe and Jessica James tell us their “story of drag, and trannies and the life that we live”… the show is entertaining to say the least. Perhaps a little passé for seasoned queer audiences, self-proclaimed straight audience members were slapping their thighs and clapping at the ‘shock factor’ throughout the whole show, (A reminder to us that topics that shock mainstream audiences have been done in intimate queer settings for eons). Stand up comedy is interspersed with numbers like ‘I Am What I Am’, and ‘I Will Always Love You’, which are sure to make audiences happy. Audience participation is encouraged, and members are even invited to ask questions in a dedicated ask-and-tell segment. The venue is conveniently located near the pancake shack, get one before the show!
