These links are the show process, music selection, editing and so on. Lighting and sound were similarly important, and lastly, we promoted ourselves with newspaper ads in the gay press, the Herald Sun, The Age gig guide and with posters, flyers and business cards.

TV, Movies and Videos

  • Amanda” is a documentary on me by film maker Lin Etheredge. It debuted at the Sydney Mardi Gras film festival.
  • Drags Aloud TV Show was shown on Channel 31 with an audience of more than a million viewers.
  • Do It With Madonna by The Androids was an ARIA winning pop video which starred Jessica as Madonna, Amanda as Britney’s Mum, Terri Tinsel as Pink, Jacqui Roberts as and Sondra as Britney.
  • Strange Bedfellows starred Paul Hogan and Michael Caton. Amanda was one of the featured drag queens.
  • Kath and Kim had three Showbags as the drag queens that entertain Kath on her Hens Night out. Amanda has Kath on her shoulders and the kick line and other cameos are Linda Lamont and Vivien St James.

Theatre Tours

  • Amanda with Tracy BartramRadio star and comedienne Tracy Bartram invited Showbags to open her solo show ‘Rawhide‘ at the National Theatre, followed by a tour of Melbourne’s Arts Centres including Geelong.
  • (Later, Linda, Jess and I opened in Melbourne for Joan Rivers at Hamer Hall, as Drags Aloud)
  • Queensland. Drags Aloud toured Queensland with great crowds in Korumburra, however the rest of the tour was somewhat lacking. Our first venture with an Australian Promoter was our last.

Other Shows and Venues

  • Spag ‘n’ Drag. found its home at Templebar in Fitzroy. It was billed as a cheap “dinner and show” night out.
    (MCV newspaper called it ‘the best value night in Melbourne’.)
  • Which is also where we filmed the Drags Aloud TV Show
  • Muse Bar in St Kilda was a Friday Night with my good friend Amy Jane Roberts. Later the night became Stand-Up comedy, until 10 pm when the Drag Show started. It was a fun night.
  • B4 was a brief engagement we had at Wet on Wellington. The front room had me as host and a rotation of guests. (B4 being named for ‘before you go out’ in the advertising.)
